In his early 20’s, Charles began exploring and sampling various wines while living in New Jersey and working in the auto industry. Years later, as his passion for wines continued to grow, he decided to follow his dream and earn a degree in Viticulture and Enology. Thus, in August 2005, he and his wife Cyndi, along with their two dogs, Caymus and Tucker, began their journey to Napa Valley.
While pursuing his degree, Charles had the good fortune to also be employed at several renowned wineries in Napa Valley including Robert Mondavi, Raymond, Rudd, and Jessup Cellars, where he played an integral part in their production and winemaking. Charles attributes his knowledge and skills not only to his time devoted to academics but also to his association with prominent winemakers in the Valley. This combination has allowed him to produce outstanding premium wines and become a superior winemaker, but not without hard work and determination.
Outside of making the wine and managing Charthia Cellars, Charles also consults under The Charthia Group LLC and provides winemaking and production services to other wineries.
In his spare time, Charles experiences the joys of life. He enjoys barbequing, hiking with his Standard Poodles - Maya and Slate, listening to music and sharing previous time with his family and friends. Of course, keeping up to date on the newest innovations in the winemaking industry is a constant in his life. One of his favorite moments is when he can speak one-on-one with a passionate wine drinker or "newbie" about wines and winemaking. It is here that his love and passion for wine blossom.
